FORT WORTH, Texas — The Arkoma Varsity cheer team competed at the national level last weekend in Fort Worth, representing Arkoma Schools. The team competed against a national field that included previous national champions and long-established programs from across the country. During the 2024–25 season, Arkoma Cheer recorded its highest state finish in program history, placing runner-up at the State Gameday competition. The team has now advanced to the state finals for eight consecutive years. The Arkoma Varsity cheer team thanks its sponsors, families, and community supporters whose contributions made participation at the national competition possible. “This group has set the standard for our program,” said head coach Shelly Harmon. “They represent Arkoma well every time they step on the mat, and I’m proud of the consistency they bring year after year.”

AHS & AMS staff are excited at the prospect of seeing our students again next Monday! We would like to remind students and families that we continue with prearranged distance learning today, Friday the 30th. Attendance and grades are being recorded accordingly on a daily basis during distance learning. As some students have not joined, we are considering different avenues of student make up for seat time and assignments. Students will be given conditional opportunity to make up work within a given time window. We are also considering giving students the opportunity to make up absences on Fridays in which school is not in session this semester. Please keep students on track today as much as possible and watch for guidelines forthcoming regarding makeup opportunities. Thank you for your cooperation and support of ongoing student learning during this very unusual winter weather event!

Tuesday's AHS and AMS trip to meet with the Choctaw Nation's Technology Initiative has been postponed due to road conditions.

Here is some guidance for AHS and AMS students over the next couple of days: Monday- school is not in session and students do not have to attend virtually. Tuesday- we will closely monitor conditions for what we will do on Tuesday. If we go virtual, students are expected to follow protocols put in place before the weekend. If they are unsure, they should reach out to teachers on Tuesday morning in a proactive manner as opposed to reaching out after the fact. Again, we hope everyone is staying safe and warm!

We hope that AHS & AMS students stay safe and warm, but have fun over the weekend. In preparation for the possibility of virtual days, students have been briefed by teachers for expectations for online meetings and work. Attendance will be counted by student participation within those parameters. Students were instructed to work with teachers ahead of time if they were not going to be able to meet requirements. We are excited to provide this temporary arrangement to continue the learning experience without risking the possibility of treacherous transportation and without having to make up days in the summer!

With winter weather coming our way, we have canceled the MS games at Hodgen on Friday (1-23).

Tonight's boys game at Gans will start at 6:15PM instead of 6PM. The girls will follow.

No school Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Tonight's MS boys basketball game is being moved to the Panama Elementary Gym. Game time is still 5:15PM.

The middle school games at Gans on Friday, January 16th, have been canceled. It will be their homecoming so the varsity boys will play first at 6PM followed by the girls.
