If you have not heard traditional school setting will not happen for remainder of the year. This decided for us by OSDE, for entire state. We are currently working on a continuous education plan that we must put in place for remainder of the year. We will be surveying our community probably more than once to try and serve the parents and students the best we can. Starting sometime during the week of April 6th will be some form of distance learning for students.
Also we will continue meals through the remainder of school year.
More info to follow as we receive it.

🎉 FUN IDEA AHEAD !🎉
Have you seen the super neat “bear hunt” trend going around Facebook? It’s so fun!
Families are putting stuffed bears in their front windows so other families can drive around their towns going on “Bear hunts”. A sort of safer version of hide and seek 😆
We would LOVE to take this idea and put a twist on it for our little Mustangs and call it the Arkoma Zoo!
If you’d like to participate, have your child grab a favorite stuffed friend and put it in a window of your home where it’s easily seen from the street by tonight. You might even put a fun fact written big on a sign next to it, just like they have at the zoo so the kids get a little learning snuck in when they find an animal.
Then, this weekend or next week, print out this fun bingo sheet, load the fam up in the car and go take a ride around Arkoma for the “drive thru zoo!”
If your family makes a bingo, have a fun dance party or maybe even ice cream to celebrate!
Don’t forget to obey the traffic laws 😉and share pictures of your family out and about with us here!
If you plan on participating, post a fun animal gif in the comments below! No need to give any addresses as part of the fun is driving around in search for the next stuffed friend!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AT HOME INSTRUCTION:
THE State Department has made it very clear that there is to be NO instruction through April 5th. This is considered an extended break with the purpose of protecting students and staff. After April 5th instruction will be addressed whether in person or virtually. We are diligently working to be prepared when that time comes.
In the meantime, our staff has gathered many online resources for students of all ages to use during this break.
To access these resources, go to the Arkoma Public Schools website and click on HOME RESOURCES.
DONT FORGET: Meal delivery and pick-up will begin this Monday!
As more information becomes available we will do our best to convey it to our community. Thank you.

Per the State Dept of Ed, ALL schools in Oklahoma are to shut down operations until April 6th.
NO INSTRUCTION, SCHOOLWORK OR GRADING IS ALLOWED DURING THIS TIME.
Arkoma Schools is working to provide students with resources they can use during this break, if they choose to do so. More information to come.

The Arkoma School District will provide meals to any Arkoma resident ages 0-18 starting Monday, March 23rd. There are two ways to receive meals:
Bus Routes- starting at 10am, we will run our morning routes and stop at all regular bus stops. We will use our mini bus and the White SUV, which will be marked with our Mustang Logo. We will stop at each bus stop and honk if children are not already outside. After the second honk, we will wait a brief moment and then go to next stop. Anyone 0-18 wanting the meals, will need to come out to the school vehicles.
Drive Through Option- starting at 10am, we will deliver meals out of the elementary cafeteria. You will drive through the car rider line, stop at the back cafeteria doors by the freezers and honk. We will bring the meals out to your car. DO NOT enter the cafeteria.
Things to know:
1. The child will have to be present to receive a meal.
2. We will deliver a breakfast and lunch at the same time.
3. The lunch will be able to be heated up at a later time.
After we get a routine established, our times will be more predictable. Please be patient with us in the beginning. This is all unchartered territory, but together we will get through this stronger and more united than ever!
Please fill out the following survey to let us know how many kids, ages 0-18 we will be serving:

Please fill out the attached survey in regards to meal service during the extended break. We need everyone to respond so we have a better idea of the needs of our community. Thank you.

COVID-19 Update.
Please see attached:

From Oklahoma State Department of Education: All schools are to cease all operations effective March 17th until April 6th to include instructional services, grading, extra curricular activities, classroom instruction, staff development, trainings and conferences.
More information to follow soon.

Arkoma Public Schools stands firm in our number one priority: the safety of our students and staff. We are in communication with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and we are monitoring the Centers for Disease Control recommendations in regards to school closures due to the CoronaVirus/COVID-19. At this time, neither agency recommends closing school in our current circumstances. This could change at any time and definitely if circumstances change.
In the meantime, we are developing new standards for cleaning and student management to ensure that we continue to provide a safe place for everyone. We have a teleconference with the State Department tomorrow at 2pm and will keep our community informed as new details and directives are given.

Please see attachment on Facebook. Update on COVID-19 regarding Spring Break concerns

The elementary dress code is still in effect. According to our handbook, no shorts or open toed shoes are to be worn from Halloween to Spring Break. Thank you.
